If your tablet is periodically dropping off the Wi-Fi there are a few things that you can check and do to reduce the chances of this happening again.
- Make sure the WiFi setting "Auto reconnect" is turned on
- Make sure the WiFi setting "MAC address type" is set to "Tablet MAC" instead of "Randomised MAC"
- Make sure the WiFi the tablet is connected to is not a guest network
- Make sure your Firewall allows VisTab URLs to pass through, at least api-app.vistab.co.nz & app.vistab.co.nz and ideally *.vistab.co.nz
- Perform a Network Test
Network Test
The built-in network test is designed to help you narrow down the root cause of the network issue.
- Swipe right from the left edge of the tablet
- Tap on Service Menu
- Enter the PIN (find it on our Web Portal https://app.vistab.co.nz/#/admin/tablet-management)
- Tap on Test Internet
Here's what the different tests do:
Router Test: For tablets with WiFi, this test performs a Ping check against the WiFi router
Internet Test: Performs a Ping check against www.google.com
VisTab (DNS): Attempts to resolve the domain name of the VisTab Tablet API
VisTab (Connect): Attempts to make a basic connection to the VisTab server
VisTab (Public): Performs a web request against a publicly available endpoint on the VisTab server
VisTab (Private): Performs an authenticated web request against the VisTab server
Interpretation of Results
If the Router test passes but all the rest fail, the Tablet might have a WiFi connection but no internet, possibly due to firewall issues > Check this article
-
If the Internet Test passes and the VisTab tests fail:
There may be a firewall blocking access to VisTab but allowing access to Google > Check this article
The VisTab servers might be down > Check our Status Page
If the VisTab (Connect) test passes but the Public/Private tests fail please submit a request
If the VisTab (Public) test passes but the Private test fails please submit a request
If the issues persists please contact your IT department and submit a request to our support team.
